Give yourself a gift for the holidays

Give yourself a gift this Christmas… of not thinking.

I’ve heard it a few times over the last week and had to catch myself with the same thought.

‘I’m going to do some thinking over Christmas’
- about career direction
- about strategic focus
- about career opportunities
- about a plan
- about whatever else is taking up space but you haven’t had time to think about.

I’m also seeing the wave of exhaustion, people hanging on by a thread, burned out or heading that direction.

It has been another fast-paced, complex year, giving rise to uncertainties about the future of the global stage. I don’t know of a business going ‘back to normal’ or ‘slowing down’ any day soon.

Resourcing yourself as a leader is a non-negotiable for conscious and future fit leaders.

If you know me, you know that I’m all for reflection, creating time to think deeply and turn inwards.

But once you have wrapped up whatever absolutely needs to be wrapped up this week, I encourage you to not think over Christmas.
Just be. Enjoy. Be present.
Let go of the demands on your mind.
Let it rest. Let it re-charge.
Let it not know.

January will come and there will be time to think. And the thinking will be better and fresher having had a rest.

I’ll even go so far as to recommend blocking out a day or half day for thinking in January.

So press pause on that thinking, just for now. Gift yourself headspace (not the app). The clarity of thought in the new year will thank you for it!

If you would like help to build in time to think, to create space to press pause on the demands get in touch to have a chat about how coaching can help you do this.
